Right off the bat, I knew that I could find a similar identity in the protagonist, Irene who was purely a lover of books whose mission it was to preserve them. This really just resonated with the life choices that I have made and my personal calling to be an elementary librarian.Don't get me wrong; all of the action was quite delightful Here's my little summary of the content:
Irene, a junior librarian is sent to this completely unknown alternative world that is chaos-infested and she is confronted with unpredictable magic and supernatural creature. Not only that, but then she discovers that she is in a game of claiming possession on a dangerous book, and it's even more perilous than she thought. What is she really willing to do to secure this prize of a book?
For most of this book you are left in the dark, thirsting to know more. A thriller that is almost at its highest potential, albeit only one that deserves three out of five stars. If I'm completely honest, after reading so many fantasy books the worldbuilding in this book isn't up to par or up to my personal standards. I think that there needs to be more explanations and less info-dumping because an author should make it a point to seamlessly feed information into the pages with the right amount of balance. I needed to know more about the Fae and dragons and Cogman only gave us the bare details and therefore I really had to struggle with imagining what is happening. Overall though, this will get a 3 rating of stars and I can't wait to continue on with Irene on this journey in book #2.

I am glad that you could really relate to the main character without any problems there! As a booklover I think I would be able to as well. I don't know how I feel about it being hard to really get sucked into the story though.
